What an amazing milestone! HALEFO held its first-ever election debate this past Sunday (March 20, 2022). This historical 4-hour event took place at the Queens Borough Hall, in Queens, and was also live-streamed via Zoom.

Four candidates from Team R.E.A.C.H. faced off 4 candidates from Team Stronger Together, as they took turns in answering questions ranging from their visions for the future of HALEFO to their position on term limits.

 

Moderators from the Election Committee did an exceptional job keeping the debate on schedule and orderly (even as the candidates conducted themselves honorably without coaching).

Meanwhile, over 60 HALEFO members, some accompanied by family members, were present, attentively following the debate and erupting in applause one moment, and laughter the next. Another 58 members followed the event live on Zoom.

​

While the debate was very competitive, the candidates from both teams remained utterly professional, respectful, and even friendly.

​

At the conclusion of the debate, all in attendance were treated to some great Haitian food, while the DJ mixed some cool Compas, bringing the event to a fun and casual end.

 

Which team came ahead? Well, that's for you dear members to decide... with your vote May 15-22.

We invite all members in good standing to attend the second and final debate, which will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Queens Borough Hall. That event will be between the Presidential candidates only.
